Description: Helen's long-standing marriage to Don was threatened in 1999 by the arrival of his long-ago ex-wife, Sally Marshall, but the couple made it through stronger than ever. She and Don were devasted by Courtney's murder on her wedding day in 2009, and Helen became obsessed with her granddaughter, Sophie. She enlisted ethically-challenged lawyer Eric Westin to help her paint Jason as an unfit parent, but the plan blew up in their faces when their hired kidnapper demanded a ransom for Sophie's return. Facing criminal charges, Helen planned to divorce Don so that he could still see their granddaughter, but Jason granted her a last-minute reprieve on Christmas Day and asked the judge to be lenient toward Helen.

In 2015, Helen was arrested and charged with the murders of Sandy James and Ryan Moriani, the first two victims of the Footprint Killer. When Cameron Kelley was also killed, her bail was revoked, but she was soon released after an alibi came to light.
